On Monday, March 11, the website of the neo-fascist group Casapound was taken down by a denial-of-service attack. Hackers from Anonymous Italy claimed responsibility, describing the party as one “inspired explicitly by fascism, recalling its unacceptable ideology” of homophobia, racism, anti-semitism, and use of armed violence, despite its claims of apoliticism and use of empty buzzwords.

The hackers’ collective remembered the many recent episodes of neo-fascist violence that have taken place in Italy, from the Florence Massacre on December 13, 2011 to the killing of Davide Cesare (a.k.a. DAX), an activist from the O.R.So group (Officina di Resistenza Sociale), who was stabbed to death on March 16, 2003.

Anonymous points out that there must be connivance by the political and economic powers that be for a group such as CasaPound to have stood in the recent elections, in contravention of the laws forbiddiing the reformation of the Fascist Party (Law June 20, 1952, n. 645, Article 4). For all these reasons, Anonymous Italy has blocked CasaPound’s site and, in a petition addressed to the President of the Italian Republic, demands the group’s immediate dissolution.
